With all the challenges of life and the decisions we have to make along the way (sometimes decisions that aren’t the best), do you ever feel like damaged goods? Is it possible for my life to be restored as it once was, or as it should be? Is anyone able to help me?

Over the centuries, many attempts have been made to restore damaged and timeworn masterpieces of art. Some attempts went well and some actually damaged works of genius, including two paintings of Da Vinci.

In his letter to the Christians at Colosse, the apostle Paul described a restoration process that’s impossible in the art world; the restoration of God’s people. “…ye have put off the old man with his deeds; and have put on the new man which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him.” (Col. 3:9,10) This is a spiritual renewal done by God, who created us on purpose and with purpose. Sin has marred the masterpieces God has made. (That includes all of us) But when we come to God through His Son Jesus Christ, He forgives our sin, gives us new life and makes all things new again.

The canvas of our lives is in the skilled hands of the Lord, Who never makes a mistake, and knows what He designed us to be. No matter how the sin that damaged our lives may have come, there’s always hope for restoration. All we need to do is go to the Lord, the Master Artist and let Him work His work in our lives. He will brighten up your life.

There are two steps in this process. First confess your sin to Him and let Him make you His child, and then yield to Him as He begins to work on your practical everyday life. (Ephesians 2:10)
